What next?!

So I was sitting in an IRC channel today and Dan pointed out a comic at UserFriendly and the “Link of the Day” was to a pretty neat looking site, Wrecked Exotics.

Anyways, they have all kinds of ads there, some graphical, some text, some flash. Now, I hate most all kinds of advertising and I actively block pop-ups and images coming from a number of known ad servers. Flash ads are by far the worst because they can often crash web browsers and can’t be blocked without blocking all flash from everywhere. Now, they had something new to me… a speaking advertisement!! Yes, the ad actually talked to me, and it frightened me enough to stop looking at the crashed exotic cars for a few minutes.

< psa > Please, never click on ads anywhere, if you are interested in the product, do a google search or something. If you click, it only encourages the use of advertisements, which is generally an eyesore and wastes bandwidth. < / psa >

  1. I heard one of those the other day, when viewing web comics from the local newspaper. I didn’t hear much, since I’d already clicked on my next link, but it was unusual.
