h1Older Web Work

Louie Vidmar

animated screenshot of this website
lvidmar.com - (in its several incarnations) - For the past 3 years or so now, I have been working on a personal/professional site for myself.

A bit of history - My very first website was a Mortal Kombat FAQ hosted on geocities, this only lasted probably 6 months. Next, and for several years, I started a ResSports page with several how-to’s and lots of pictures. “Louie’s RecSports Page” went through several layouts, some of which using complex table-based layouts.

Focus - I want to focus on my interests more (in a more interesting way than I have in the past), as well as promoting myself by sharing some of the work I have done. This work includes web design, video, and photography. Interests include Music, RecSports, and Macintosh computers.

Features - Valid XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS, PHP dynamically included content, and images and video should come shortly. WordPress blog and a few hand coded PHP scripts for content management.

Virginia Area Alpine Ski Team

vaast.ws version 2

vaast.ws - (in its several incarnations) - All through high shool my sport was Skiing. In 9th grade I decided to start up a website for the team, a more respectable use for honing my HTML skills.

A bit of history - About 7 years ago now, I decided to put up a website for my high school ski team. This was a single page, plain blue with white text, a photograph of the team, and listing of each of the members. The site grew quickly the next year, and became frames based with some javascript rollovers. Now the site started becoming popular among the team and I made some fancy graphics in PhotoShop. In the past season or two I’ve been working on making the site relevant to the current team, and making it updatable by the current booster club so it requires little moderation by me.

Focus - This site was designed with intentions to share team news, such as race results, schedule, and booster club policies with the team, parents, coaches, as well as other students who might be interested in the progress of the team.

Features - Valid XHTML 1.1 and CSS, PHP dynamically included content, Movable Type installation for posting news and such, PHP iCal for parsing calendar files for the schedule, and an iPhoto exported photo album which will hopefully be replaced by something better when I have time.

Make-a-Wish Foundation of Idaho

idahowish.org version ?

idahowish.org - Marcia Karakas of the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Idaho asked if I would be a volunteer to design a new website for their organization. I was quite pleased with the result.

I’m no longer involved with the site, as they found a local intern to take care of things to make updating it easier, but I am quite proud of my work as it was one of my first dynamic websites.

Focus - It was used to post information about granted wishes, as well as explaining to people how they can help out to make wishes come through. Also to make photos of a current project availble for sponsors to see how their money was used to fulfill children’s wishes.

Features - HTML Frames, JavaScript rollovers, CSS and PHP to dynamically create pages and conserve server space, custom logo graphic symbolizing the state of Idaho incorporating the Make-a-Wish logo.

Vidmar Iron Works, Inc.

vidmarironworks.com

vidmarironworks.com - When I worked for my dad, he asked me to build a website for the family business. This was the result. My dad let the domain name lapse, so the site is no longer available, but I currently have an open offer to my dad to design a new site with a new focus, and get things fired up again though.

Focus - It’s intent was to advertise the business to other areas, as well as to hopefully generate some online business.

Features - The site utilized HTML Frames, javascript rollovers, and various images as well as a table based photo gallery of some various work they have done. Custom header based on the “I-beam” logo, used for the website, Fax cover sheets, and Transmittal forms.
