Punk in Drublic!

Wow this was a long, amazing, and f@#$ing expensive weekend!

Friday night I decided to head out to the cabin so I didn’t have to worry about waking up and getting out there in the morning. Turned the sauna on as soon as I got there and took one around 1:30am. Was up around 8am and the first round of skiing started by 9am. Three slalom runs and 12 passes through the course later I hopped in the sauna quickly and got home ASAP. Called Lauren and got my shit together to head to the cities for the rest of the weekend. Picked up Jared, Justin and Kristen and off we were!

Jared, Justin, and I got dropped off at Andy’s and after everyone got settled we all went to Valleyfair for the half price deal they have from 5pm-midnight. We went on the Corkscrew (85′ tall 50mph coaster), Excalibur (100′ tall 54mph), Wild Thing (74mph coaster with 200′ drop), Power Tower (275′ freefall), and Steal Venum (crazy 68mph 185′ tall “impulse coaster”). Then back to Andy’s for some drinking MarioKart action (and I suck at MarioKart!).

We woke up around 8am and were on the road towards WarpedTour at 9. This year it was back in the Metrodome parking lot and it was PACKED with people, bands, and booths. Saw a bunch of people I knew too. As for bands I watched and/or heard: the Vandals, Flogging Molly, Bad Religion, NoFX, Rufio, Atmosphere, Avenged Sevenfold, Bowling for Soup, and some others. A good time was had by all, Andy got kicked in the face during Bad Religion and needed stitches but also got some kickass pictures so check out his site if you wish to see the BLOODY SHIRT!! 🙂 Then back up north after the show and we stopped or some eats and got home shortly after 2am.

Today I woke up a little after noon and my dad called around 3pm to ask me to go in to work and bring my camera because some assholes busted half the windows in his office building last night. We got a bunch of pictures taken and covered as many windows as possible. Apparently the nearby gas station, and the high school also had broken windows. Don’t kids have anything fucking better to do?

Home, home on the range?

I’ve had quite a bit of fun being “back home” in Minnesota, but I realize I really don’t want to end up here long-term again. It’s a good place to leave, and an alright place to visit, but I don’t want to “live” here again. It’s nice to see everyone, family and friends, but there’s just not all that much to do. Play cards, drink, play cards while drinking, etc… just doesn’t turn my crank for too many nights in a week. Seems some people may be more bored with this routine than I, and there have been some other strange things afoot in V-town.

Waterskiing on weekends rocks, but there just isn’t the same excitement there used to be. My cousin who got me interested in tournaments last summer seems uninterested this year, and I just don’t feel like going to them alone. I’ve made about 6 runs so far this year and I’m pretty sure within my next 2 days of skiing I’ll be back in the form I was in last year. Currently working on 34mph at 15′ off (was working on 36mph last year but only made 4 bouys) There’s a tournament in Rochester this Saturday I might be going to, just waiting on word on if my cousin is interested.

In music news, I’ll be hitting up the Warped Tour this Sunday with a bunch of friends. Looks to be a good mix of both old and new acts which should prove a great concert!

In website related news, I’ve been reading and working through the book PHP and MySQL For Dynamic Websites: Visual QuickPro Guide and I’ll be on to the databasing chapter soon, and that should be inspiration for some more content to start popping up, as well as some better standardization and structure to the existing content.

Boys of Summer

Well I’m “back home” now, I left Oregon almost 2 weeks ago for my brother’s place in Idaho. We got a bit of work done on his basement, prepping for their master bathroom and such. Then over the weekend we got the beams put in place for his bridge at his property where his cabin will be, and got trees cleared for his driveway.

Anyways, about me (this is my blog and all). Sunday night at 2:30 am my bus left Boise, and 42 hours later I arrived in Duluth MN. Trip was mostly uneventful, except for the guy who was working on the bus somewhere in Nebraska had a seisure. Obviously I slept all day, and woke up in time to go out for burgers with some buddies of mine on Wednesday. Then we went to the casino for a while, where most of us won some money, and it was time to go home again.

Friday we went to the cabin to get started breaking up some concrete. Something happened and we weren’t getting water any more, so we need to drop a new pipe down farther, and my genius father and grandfather decided to encase the top of the pipe in concrete. Hammer-Drill and Jackhammer to the rescue! Anyways, that all got finished up on Sunday and Monday.

Saturday was my birthday and I woke up at my cabin in time for the parade. Headed home a little while later and went out for some heavy drinking in town. Drank half a pint of flavored vodka, half a glass of some jagermeister mixed drink, and chugged some captian/dr pepper. Things got a little hazy from here, Jared and I wandered to the golf course and brought John a little present. We all went out to a bar and I saw some people from high school who I hadn’t seen in a long time. Then apparently we ventured out to Lake Fourteen for a party, but there was nothing doing out there so we went back to town and I woke up in Mt. Iron and puked my guts out for several hours. Twas a pretty good b-day.

Sunday and Monday I got to do a little waterskiing, and I’m in quite a bit better shape than I was in last year, but my arms are killing me today. There is a tourny this Saturday, I’m not sure if I’m quite up to my par yet, but we’ll see.

I’m thinking that’s enough for now, should be some more goings on within the next few days.
