I’m faced with a decision that could greatly alter the course of my life.
In 2 weeks, my roommate moves out, and I’ll be back to paying the full rent at my apartment (ouch).
This weekend I helped Erin move into her best friend’s mom’s house (she rents to students and friends and exchange students and such).
This house has a quite unfinished basement, and if I do the work to make a room habitable, I can stay there virtually rent-free (paying only my share of utilities). This seems like a great opportunity, I’d be a lot closer to campus, I’d be close to my girlfriend (yet we’d still have our own respective space), and I’d free up a lot of my income for skiing, a new laptop, and travel. The only downside that I can see, is I’m not sure if it’s enough space to maintain a healthy relationship this early on…
We’ve been dating for 2 months today, everything is awesome, we have a lot of overlapping common interests, and I love her.
If anyone has some insight, I’d be happy to hear it. I value this relationship very much, and I’d hate for something like this to spoil it.
